Our Mission
HeroBox is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports deployed service members. Our mission is to provide the physical items and moral support our heroes need while they are away from home protecting our freedom. Our programs are designed to give people the opportunity to get involved and make a direct impact on the lives of their heroes.

What is a HeroBox?
A HeroBox is a customized care package. Deployed troops have certain needs and wants depending on their gender, location, and a variety of other factors. The typical care package isn't always influenced by those needs and wants. Our goal is to make sure that each HeroBox is directly influenced by them.

In the Beginning
HeroBox started as a family's simple effort of supporting their Hero, Specialist Evan Housley; a son, brother and husband deployed to Iraq in late 2007. Early in his deployment, Evan realized two things. First, there were a lot of service members who didn't have any support from home. The other thing Evan noticed was that deployed service members have certain needs and wants depending on their gender, location, and a variety of other factors.

So Evan and his brother Ryan developed a simple idea to customize the care packages troops received. HeroBox.org was launched in May 2008 to field these special requests. As word spread, the demand soon outweighed the supply and the little web page soon became a non-profit organization. HeroBox incorporated in December 2008 and became a 501(c)(3) public charity in May 2009.
