General FAQs

Is HeroBox a non-profit organization?

HeroBox is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. 100% of your donation is tax deductible deductible for federal income tax purposes. Our tax identification number is 26-3985630.

How does HeroBox send items to the troops?

There are 3 main ways that we send or facilitate HeroBoxes to the troops. First is through our most popular program, the myHero program. HeroBox connects people (sponsors) with deployed service members instantly online. The sponsors commit to sending one HeroBox a month to the service member they were paired with. Secondly, our HeroDay program pairs groups and organizations with deployed units. Thirdly, we receive item donations which are packed and shipped to the troops on a regular basis.

How did HeroBox start?

Please visit our Mission page to learn about HeroBox.

How can I get involved?

We offer multiple ways for you to get involved, including donating money, supplies, your services (creative, legal, etc.), your time, and many other options. If you want to get involved, simply click here to find out more.

Will I really make a difference?

Yes! Click Here to read how the troops feel about receiving a HeroBox.

How much does it cost?

You can expect to pay between $25 and $40 per HeroBox. The postage for the USPS medium flat rate box (11x8.5x5.5 ) is about $10. It costs about $15-$30 to fill the box.

Do we have to use the medium box?

No. You can use any box you wish. We recommend the flat rate boxes because of the cost.

I forgot my password, how do I retrieve it?

Click on the "Account" link in the menu at the top of this page. You will then see a link to retrieve your password.

Can I send pictures of my efforts?

Yes! Please send any pictures or feedback of your efforts and we will post on our site for everyone to see.

What are the stickers for?

The stickers identify the HeroBox. Print out, cut on dotted line and tape to your HeroBox.

The myHero program is a commitment to send one HeroBox a month to your hero for a minimum of 3 months. You can sponsor up to 5 heroes at a time.
