Care packages are a great way to send our service members the items they need while deployed. They don’t always have access to the “comforts of home” like they are used to. Care packages make it easy to send lots of goodies all in one box. 


Not only do care packages bring a service member necessary items like shampoo or sweet treats they’ve been craving, but they become a life line to the “outside” world.


It reminds them that someone, somewhere is thinking about them. It encourages them to keep going each and every day. It puts a smile on their face, brightens their day, and lets them know that they are cared about.


Did you know there is a small way you can make your care packages even more special and make it more of an experience for your service member??!


Introducing… Care Package Decorating!


Care package decorating is where you decorate the inside flaps of your box so when your service members opens their box they see the fun decorations. Decorating the inside flaps of your care package can be so much fun and add so much life to it.

You can take a regular ole box and turn it into an experience. It’s a small step that makes a big impact! There are so many ways that you can decorate your care package.

  1. Paint-whether you are an artist or not you can paint your care package flaps. You can paint the flaps lots of fun colors or create patterns.

  2. Pictures -if you personally know your service member, making a collage of pictures on your flaps is perfect! It’s a fun way to walk down memory lane!

  3. Wrapping paper-you can take a roll of wrapping paper and cut it to fit the flaps. Simply tape or glue it on.

  4. Cardstock-using cardstock paper is another fun way to decorate your flaps. Most craft stores have lots of decorative cardstock to choose from. You can also get stickers or letters to add a cute saying too!
